Leading developer, Barratt Developments, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, is encouraging the East Yorkshire community to pitch in during this time of need following donations to hospitals, doctors and care homes across the region.
Barratt Developments Yorkshire East has provided all its stock of protective masks, alongside much-needed antibacterial hand gel and soap to NHS staff as they continue to run low on essential supplies.
Based in York, the housebuilder is known for its work within the communities it builds, but this donation aims to lead by example and encourage many more organisations in the area to do their bit.
Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented: “In this time of need, it’s important that we continue to work together as a collective and support our NHS staff whilst they continue to be the heroes in this battle we’re facing.
We want to encourage other businesses and individuals to use the resources they have and donate them where they can to support our community in fighting Covid-19. At a time like this, we should all be doing our bit to help out.”
Barratt Developments announced last month that it had temporarily closed its sites to protect its staff and customers. Those staff who have been furloughed have been encouraged to volunteer whilst they are not working for the business. One of our receptionists has already set about producing protective masks from home.
A spokesperson said: “The health and safety of customers and employees is our number one priority and we took the decision to temporarily close our 400 offices and sites across the country.”
