Prospective students will get a glimpse of what the University of Hull has to offer at a series of Virtual Open Days taking place next week.
The Open Days, on July 10 and 11, will give visitors the chance to speak to course tutors and students, enjoy a virtual tour of the University’s campus, and get a real sense of life at Hull.
While July would normally be a time when the University opens up its campus to visitors in person, the COVID-19 pandemic saw teams react quickly to move the events to an online platform, providing an immersive experience for prospective students and guests.
When the country entered lockdown in March, the University transitioned successfully into an online learning experience.
The University recently laid out plans to adopt a blended learning approach in September, with smaller teaching sessions hoping to take place face-to-face.
Anja Hazebroek, Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing at the University of Hull, said: “The University has demonstrated in recent months just how flexible an organisation it can be in times of challenge.
“The Virtual Open Days will give prospective students a full flavour of what Hull can offer them, from learning more about their chosen course to exploring our beautiful campus and chatting to current students.
“We cannot wait to meet everyone who is already booked onto an Open Day, and would encourage all those who have considered studying at Hull to sign up before it’s too late.”
The Open Days will provide information, including live broadcasts, on a wide range of courses and subjects at the University. There will also be opportunities for all visitors to live chat with staff and students, and take part in discussion boards where they can get answers to all of their questions.
Visitors will have access to a wealth of information, including videos, testimonials and ‘how to’ guides.
Parents will also have the opportunity to live chat with other parents who have been in their shoes when their own children started at university, making them ideally placed to provide essential guidance and support.
Course tutors will be on-hand to share details of the modules and career experience on offer, while current students at the University will also give an insight into life in the city.
Essential information will also be provided on areas including student accommodation, finance, admissions and support.
The events surrounding COVID-19 have seen the University respond in a variety of ways.
From a team of engineers producing vital face shields for the NHS and frontline workers, to academic staff taking up temporary clinical roles to support the national effort, the University has played a vital role in responding to the pandemic.
