National Youth Theatre success for Year 10 pupil Joyce

Congratulations to Joyce in Year 10 who has just been accepted as a member of the National Youth Theatre following a highly competitive audition process. Joyce attended the Hull Collegiate School  ‘Audition Preparation’ activity run by actor Jessica Duffield in order to prepare for the NYT workshop and interview. Thousands of young actors apply to join but only a handful are selected.

The National Youth Theatre gives young people the opportunity to learn as much about themselves and how to relate to others, as they do about acting and technical theatre. Whilst some of their members go on to become well known faces of stage and screen, many others go on to be great lawyers, journalists, doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, CEOs and much more.

Past alumni include: Idris Elba, Matt Smith, CatherineTate and Daniel Craig to name but a few.

Mrs Asbury, Head of Drama, said, ”I am thrilled Joyce’s hard work has reaped it’s reward and her talent has been recognised. We are all very proud of Joyce and her achievement.”

Mrs Wilson, Headmistress, said, ”This is a wonderful opportunity. The National Youth Theatre is a world-leading youth arts organisation and it is a huge credit to Joyce’s undoubted talent to have been accepted as a member. As such she will follow in the footsteps of world renowned actors such as Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig and Orlando Bloom. Well done Joyce!”
