Hull City Council seeks the next Young Mayor

Young people in Hull are being invited to apply to become the city’s next Young Mayor.

The role, currently held by Gabriela Surdyk, acts as an ambassador for Hull’s young people, supporting the Lord Mayor and attending the Hull Young People’s Parliament.

The one-year post will also take a public and media role, attending events and presentations.

Lisa Wedgner, Voice and Influence Worker for Hull City Council said: “After a stunning two years of working with the safety campaigners to support young people to stay safe online and on the streets, Gabriela Surdyk’s term has now come to an end and we are seeking to find the next Young Mayor for Hull.

“This role offers a great opportunity for the successful candidate to gain a better understanding of local democracy and provide a voice for Hull’s young people.

“I’d like to offer our huge thanks to Gabriela for her commitment and legacy. We are very much looking forward to meeting this year’s candidates and supporting the next young person in this role.”

Applications are being invited from Hull residents aged 11 to 17 year olds who are confident and enthusiastic about making a change.
