Early years childcare advice for key workers

The council’s Family Information Service (FIS) is providing advice to key workers, and families of vulnerable children, about childcare options in Hull.

The service is in daily contact with all 164 local Ofsted registered childcare providers including nurseries, pre-schools and childminders, to ensure access to childcare for children of key workers, and for vulnerable children, during the coronavirus pandemic.

Andy Kemp, manager of the Family Information Service said: “We are working to ensure places remain open across all areas of the city, and we are here to support key workers and families of vulnerable children to find alternative arrangements if their current provider has closed.”Parents are advised to keep their children at home wherever possible, except for those children who absolutely need to attend.

The service can also support parents to access childcare funding, including two-year old funding, three and four-year early education funding and 30 hours free childcare.

Families can contact the Family Information Service (FIS) via 300300 or alternatively on 01482 318318 and fis@hullcc.gov.uk or tweet @hull_fis
