Winning Lifestyle team visit South Africa

Three girls from Crowle are currently enjoying the holiday of a lifetime in South Africa as a reward for their hard work last summer spreading positivity and raising money to create safe places for young people.

Georgina Healer, Faith Singh and Mia Singh formed team The Magical 3 and dedicated their summer holidays to completing a project for our Lifestyle initiative. Their efforts were commended at our awards ceremony in November last year where the girls were awarded first place, winning the trip as their prize.

Whilst in South Africa the girls will have the opportunity to spot exotic animals on safari, as well as visiting the town of Soweto where they will be delivering much needed supplies to an orphanage.

Our Community Safety Team have been working hard over the past few months to collect the items for the orphanage, all of which have been kindly donated by members of staff and officers.

As a force we have collected six suitcases worth of items for the children and young people, from essential toiletries and sanitary products to clothing and school supplies, which British Airways have kindly allowed us to take at no extra cost.

Sergeant Nick Bunker from our community safety unit said: “The girls thoroughly deserve this trip to South Africa and I hope they have a wonderful time.

“Their project last summer definitely made a difference to the lives of the people that they came across and brought smiles to many faces. I have no doubt that the money that they raised for The Jimmy Foundation has already had a huge impact on their community.

“If you’re aged 10-18 and want to make a difference in your community, make sure you sign up for Lifestyle this summer. You’ll get to spend your school holiday with your friends doing something really worthwhile, and you never know you could even be on your way to South Africa this time next year!”

Principal Sponsor ARCO said: “As Principal Sponsor we are delighted to see the teams embark on what will be a fabulous life experience.

“We were hugely impressed by all their creativity, enthusiasm and hard work and this trip is a well-deserved reward for their combined efforts.

“We are sure that they will have a wonderful time and all at Arco look forward to hearing about their adventures.”
