Pace Communications has launched ‘One Hull of a Christmas’, a community campaign to encourage the people of Hull and East Yorkshire to shop locally this year.
Sparked by the announcement of the second lockdown, Pace – a Hull-based creative communications agency – has created social media platforms for One Hull of a Christmas across Instagram and Facebook, giving small local businesses a spotlight to share their products and services.
Anita Pace, MD of Pace, commented: “We’re based in the Fruit Market, a veritable hub of wonderful, vibrant independent retailers, and seeing the impact the pandemic has had on these businesses first-hand gave us real motivation to try and do our bit. We wanted to create a community campaign that played on our skills to create compelling content and apply it to promoting something that would benefit the independents across the city.
“Choosing to shop at your local businesses instead of the larger chains has so many benefits. One Hull of a Christmas champions community over competition and we hope small Hull businesses reap rewards from it.”
Molly Hollinsworth, social media executive at Pace, added: “The reaction to the One Hull of a Christmas campaign has been brilliant. We’ve just hit over 1,000 followers on Instagram and reached over 20,000 people on Facebook – and the numbers are going up daily.
“Small, independent businesses have been especially impacted by the events of 2020, and it has been heart-warming to see the positive reaction from the Hull community. We hope local businesses get in touch to be featured, and shoppers take the time to look and see the many brilliant things being created on our doorstep.”
