New supermarket opens in Hull’s Old Town

A new supermarket has opened its doors in Hull’s historic Old Town.

The One Stop on Silver Street offers a range of convenience products, as well as made-to-order sandwiches from sandwich-makers Stacked.

It is one of a number of new businesses and investments in the Old Town, which includes a new cycle hub in Trinity Market.

The store is the latest business to open in Hull’s popular Old Town.

The One Stop investment has been supported by a £182,000 grant from the Humber High Street Challenge Fund.

The Humber High Street Challenge Fund has been supported with £2.23m from the Government’s Local Growth Fund, secured by the Humber LEP and part of the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse.

Local businessman Ragunathan Selvachandran has brought the franchise to Silver Street.

He said: “Opening this One Stop, with Hull’s first ever Stacked, has been an ambitious project that could not have happened without the support of Hull City Council.

“The response we have had from the local community since opening has been amazing and we look forward to serving the community for many years to come”

Open 7-days a week, the One Stop store provides a wide range of essential products and services for the local community including parcel pick-up and delivery, on-the-go meals, fresh and frozen food, beers, wines and other home essentials.

The regeneration of Whitefriargate is being supported by £1m of funding from the Humber High Street Challenge Fund, as well as £1.75m from Historic England’s High Streets Heritage Action Zone programme.
