A series of workshops, all welcome, come and have a go at some carnival arts. Hull Carnival Arts team of artists will show you how to make your very own large scale carnival fish, ready for the Hull International Carnival on Sunday 1st September at the Freedom Festival.

This workshop involves quick and easy willow and tissue paper crafting techniques to create large scale parade sculptures that can be paraded at a height on Bamboo poles.

Quick Fix – Cardboard Carnival Costume 

A free workshop, all welcome, come and have a go at some carnival arts. Hull Carnival Arts team of artists will show you how to make your very own ‘bird inspired’ carnival costume, ready for the Hull International Carnival on Sunday 1st September at the Freedom Festival.

This workshop involves quick and easy crafting techniques to create a carnival head-dress and tail feathers, using cardboard, craft papers, glue, staplers, scissors, ribbons and little bit of sparkle!

Carnival Grooves and Moves 

A free workshop, all welcome, have a go at carnival movement, dance and drumming. Dance expert Jon Beney and HACA dance leader Sidi Majubah will take you through some simple dance and movement techniques to help you get you carnival groove on ready for the Hull International Carnival on Sunday 1st September at the Freedom Festival.

Dance workshop features live drums from Donna Smith and the Humber Drum Circle, and Brass players from Hull Carnival Arts Street Band Bandanarama. 

There also will be opportunities to have a go at drumming skills in a drum circle lead by Donna Smith, all drums provided, or please feel free to bring your own drums, Dohls, dumbek, or Samba equipment if you have them.
